Ken Lester has been busy with another set of dual PNG icons for AmiKit. They will appear in the next AmiKit update, stay tuned!

13.04.2007 - A new French website: Ami-France

A new partner website called Ami-France has been set up by our friend Eric Luczyszyn. The main purpose of this website is to provide French translations for various Amiga programs. If you're a developer and would like your program translated to French, then this site is for you! Contact Eric for further details.

The site also focus on AmiGame (a new front-end for WinUAE) and AmiKit, of course. You can find there many French translations for various AmiKit programs and an AmiKit review as well (in French only). This review was originally published in Amiga Power issue 34.

The site now works with Amiga browsers too!

09.03.2007 - Norwegian translation available

A Norwegian translation of the AmiKit website is available thanks to Anbjørn Myren!

25.02.2007 - AmiKit 1.3.0 - Cumulative update package available

This cumulative update installer updates any AmiKit 1.2.x installations to AmiKit 1.3.0. This is useful especially for those users who cannot use, for whatever reason, the AmiKit Live Update feature. The AmiKit_12x-fix.exe archive is also included. Downloads.

Note that after the installation of this cumulative update the first startup of AmiKit will take longer. This is because the update files will be extracted during this first startup. This might take up to several minutes, especially if you're updating from v1.2.0.

21.02.2007 - AmiKit 1.3.0 - Now with PNG, dual PNG and OS4 icon support!

We are very proud to announce the AmiKit now supports modern icon formats. This is the first time the OS3.x based environment is able to show and use PNG, dual PNG and OS4 icons. Moreover, Directory Opus Magellan II (included in AmiKit) is able to use them too, finally! Look at the screenshots!

This is a significant accomplishment since Magellan users haven't even been able to display PNG icons to this point. All this would not be possible without the magic work of Bernd Roesch and his excellent AfA_OS project. Also big thanks to Ken Lester, a devoted AfA & AmiKit beta tester, who painted dual PNG icons for AmiKit and gave it a more modern look. Ken also created a new backdrop pictures, download them from here.

Installation note: The update is delivered to you automatically thanks to AmiKit Live Update feature. Once the update is downloaded and the system is rebooted, another request appears to restart the emulation. This is required to enable the PNG support. Once you shut down the emulation completely and start it again, the AmiKit desktop appears in PNG. (change log)
Note the Magellan configuration will be overwritten by this update. The backup of your actual configuration is saved as DOpus5:Environment/workbench.130bak. (If you use Workbench instead of Magellan, please disable PowerIcons in your startup-sequence. Also enable AsyncWB in your WBStartup.)

Limitation: While the internal icon information module of DOpus Magellan is functional, it doesn't show the icons correctly. You can always use a patched RAWBInfo instead: Move the file "UseWBInfo" from ENVARC:DOpus/Disabled/ to ENVARC:DOpus/ directory and reboot. Then move the file "RAWBInfo" (and its icon) from WBStartup/Disabled to WBStartup directory and run the "RAWBInfo_Patch" on it. The patch can be found in AfA_OS directory (AmiKit:Utilities/Expansion/AfA_OS). Note that the patch requires RAWBInfo v1.28 or v1.35 (included in OS3.9 BoingBags 1 and 2). For more information please read the installation notes located in AfA_OS directory.
